THE PARK
Villa Doria Pamphili
Rome's Garden of Wonders
Rome has a Garden of Wonders, and that garden is called Villa Doria Pamphili. Villa Pamphili is a historic residence, but it's also the capital's largest park. Seventeenth-century buildings, Italian gardens, fountains, waterfalls, lakes, and monumental trees dot this historic villa, nestled between the ancient Roman roads of Via Aurelia Antica, Via della Nocetta, and Via Vitellia. More than 180 hectares of greenery are dotted with walking paths, bike paths, and children's play areas. A single restaurant, the Vivi Bistrot di Villa Pamphili, offers the ideal base for exploring the park, perhaps with a delicious picnic basket in hand.

2. The Way of Water
The history of Villa Pamphili is intertwined with water.
