VIVI Benefit Society and BORBOLETTA:
an initiative for Biodiversity in collaboration with the naturetech 3Bee
There biodiversity, that is, the variety of animal and plant species on our planet, has been decreasing at an alarming rate in recent years, in particular due to some human activities, pollution and the consequences of climate change. According to the’ISPRA, A significant percentage of pollinating insects are at risk of extinction, a situation exacerbated by global warming. Therefore, it is essential to take concrete action to protect, regenerate, and monitor the state of biodiversity and the world of pollinators.
In this context, VIVI Società Benefit and the BORBOLETTA brand have joined forces with the scientific partner 3Bee to start a path towards biodiversity through an initial regeneration project: the adoption of 50 native nectar-producing trees and shrubs in a location located in Frosinone for the protection of local biodiversity and pollinating insects, thus adhering to the 3Bee Biodiversity Oasis project.
Who is 3Bee?
3Bee is an innovative company operating in the nature tech sector, developing technologies for monitoring, protecting, and regenerating biodiversity. 3Bee supports businesses and municipalities in defining a customized climate strategy based on an analysis of their impacts and dependencies on nature, starting with a digital platform It uses advanced technologies, combining satellite data, field technology, and public databases. 3Bee also collaborates with research centers, schools, farmers, growers, and citizens to promote the importance of protecting biodiversity.
What is a 3Bee Biodiversity Oasis?
3Bee Biodiversity Oases are urban and agroforestry habitats created by 3Bee in areas and lands with low biodiversity, with the aim of regenerating it. These Oases can be created in marginal agricultural strips, former agricultural areas with low crop diversity, roadsides, urban and peri-urban zones, and wooded areas with limited taxonomic diversity. These spaces are dedicated to the protection of biodiversity and pollinating insects and represent a first step towards climate resilience.
Within the 3Bee Oases, nectariferous trees and shrubs are planted, essential for the creation of resilient ecosystems.
These bring a series of benefits: in addition to providing food for pollinating insects, they contribute to the regeneration of natural habitats across the country, counteracting the loss caused by the expansion of intensive farming and urbanization. Furthermore, they promote improved soil structure and composition and create new refuges and feeding sites for wildlife, particularly wild pollinators.
This project represents the first step of the path towards biodiversity by VIVI Società Benefit and BORBOLETTA. By choosing to collaborate with a scientific partner like 3Bee, we want to take concrete action for the protection and regeneration from the biodiversity: Its loss is one of the most urgent emergencies we must address, and we want to do our part for a world fit for butterflies.
